October 2005

October is supposed to be fall but between the nice warm temperatures (at least at the beginning of the month) and our trip
to Arizona, Jacob spent most of the month in shorts. Not that he was complaining. He got to play with cousins Jayden and
Tanner almost every day. Heaven! Plus, we tried to do something toddler-friendly everyday. He went to the zoo for the first
time ever and loved everything but, especially, the monkeys! He loves animals and will make some of the animal sounds if
asked. It's hilarious. We took him to the state fair (first time on a roller coaster - didn't love it and first time on the
ferris wheel - ambivalent). He took in a performance of Disney's Incredibles on Ice. We forced him to wear his Halloween
costume so many times (so many parties!) that we think he may not like penguins anymore! Cousin Grace came to stay with us
for a weekend and J is completely enamored. Anything else? Oh, yeah he's perfecting his color recognition (he's at about
90% accuracy right now) which is such fun. Favorite shows include Wiggles, Sesame Street, Thomas, and Bob the Builder. He's
finally burnt out on Teletubbies (we're not complaining). He's getting to be a bit of an addict so we're trying to get him
out of the house as much as possible (especially before the winter snows begin) to distract him from the TV/temptation.
