We got on the road late, which is no surprise, and headed to...oops, the gas
station because the minivan was running on fumes. We make it to the corner
station and Jacob decides that his breakfast and the cold water he'd been
drinking didn't agree with his tummy. So we pump half a tank of gas and
head home to clean him and the car. So even later than we planned, we
finally got rolling and, thankfully, hit no traffic. By the time we were
ready to head down to the beach, J was super whiny. Took his parents
way too long to figure out that his empty tummy was the problem so much of our
photo and video footage of the early frolicking is mostly grumpy, whining, and
crying. Thank goodness the rain started (yes, it was welcome) because it
forced us all inside where J was able to devour his lunch and some
seconds. But time just flew and suddenly, we had to be out on the river
asap. We all ran down to the boat, piled on, and the real fun
ensued. Lots of toddler exploring, a quick nap, and the fabulous
fireworks. We got stuck on the Wilson Bridge while the drawbridge opened
(a rarity that is soon to be even more rare once they complete the construction)
and it was after 1 am by the time we made it home, safe, happy, but tired.
