Disney Trip 2006

Toddlers love Disney. There is just no getting around it. Even though he does not watch the Disney channel and has only seen a couple of the movies (mostly Pixar ones), Jacob was just infatuated with all the costumed characters running around the theme parks. He couldn't bear to wait in line for his turn to see a character or hop on a ride - he wanted his bliss NOW! His parents learned to take turns standing in line while the other took him on another ride or to see a less-popular character. Thank goodness for Magic Hours (special late hours for resort guests) where the number of patrons in the park were greatly diminished. We hit all the biggies (like Mickey) but missed the Incredibles (oh, well!) The water parks and hotel pool were huge hits - we almost could have gone to a local water park and saved a fortune, which we will try this summer. Every time he would take a nap in his stroller, his dad would run off to some fabulous roller coaster which J was too little for. But he was JUST tall enough to go on a few big rides and those elicited "Wow"s from him. He got drenched on Kali River Rapids but could not have been more thrilled. We snuck off-property one day and rented a car to buy some healthy food and hit Sea World (and just as it did 9 years ago when we went for our 1 year anniversary trip, it rained buckets) but he could not wait to get back to the rides and animals and fabulous over-stimulation. His parents, on the other hand, need a vacation from their vacation and will not have enough energy to do this again for at least five more years!
