| Independence Day was all about the weather this year. It was quite overcast, threatening to rain all day, but held back so that we could forgo the ritual slathering of the sunscreen and ride around on the jet ski all afternoon. When the clouds finally began to dump their liquid contents on us, we were safely on the boat, ready to eat dinner and socialize. Surprisingly, our hardy captain chose to leave port during the storm, all hands zipping on the isinglass as they were pelted by huge raindrops. Just as we cleared the final bridge, entering the Chesapeake Bay by the Naval Academy, the skies cleared and the fireworks began. Jacob killed the phrase "I like that one and that one..." as Lucas sat entranced (or stunned) on his dad's lap. The show was fabulous and we cannot thank Captain Uncle Chris and his accommodating crew (Aunt Gini and Carly) enough for yet another fabulous holiday on the river! |
