We can't believe he's already three. The time has flown by.
This year, we were able to ask him what kind of party he wanted and, given
many options, he chose Buzz Lightyear. Since Toy Story is a 10 year
old movie, it was not easy finding party supplies but the Internet came
through. Of course, he'll have to have Buzz Lightyear again
next year, since we have this fabulous banner that says "Happy
Birthday Jacob" that he didn't even notice wrapped around the columns
in the dining room! Actually, we suspect he may want a dinosaur
party next year (that was an option this year) since he keeps begging to
watch Jurassic Park (yeah, totally inappropriate for a 3 year old!) but he
has a whole year to go from one obsession to another. We tried to
keep it
fairly low key this year with a two month old in the house. The kids
enjoyed the piņata and watching Toy Story and pulling out all the toys in
the family room. The "Decorate Your Own Cupcake" idea went
over okay (not as messy as we feared), but would have been better for a
slightly older crowd. We'll file that away for the future!
Kathie made the funniest observation at the party: I don't recognize anyone!
Not completely accurate but there were a lot of new faces. Of the
guests from last year, Ryan and Ayden already had plans that day, we
haven't seen Milan since last year, and we opted not to invite Aryaan
because, well, he was a terror at the last party and every time we've had
a playdate since! So we invited a preschool friend, Anthony (and his
little brother Liam), a new playgroup friend, Sarah, a new neighbor,
Shane, and we had the three long-time buddies, Kirsten, Caldwell, and
Maddie. It was quite the group!
